The Cox Walker Jewelry LLC story.

Our Story

Founded in 1996, carried from one generation of the Cox family to the next.

The story of Cox Walker Jewelry LLC begins with Kenneth Cox Walker, an English-born entrepreneur who relocated to the United States and founded the business in 1996. What began as a determined family venture has grown into a premium gemstone and jewelry company whose day-to-day activities are now overseen by Robert Cox and Kenneth Cox Walker’s sister, Mavis A. Deshone, while Maria Cox Walker remains part of the founder’s personal legacy as next of kin.

Foundation

Kenneth Cox Walker founded Cox Walker Jewelry LLC in the United States in 1996 after leaving England to pursue a larger business vision. He believed there was room for a gemstone company that would not only trade beautiful stones, but also build a reputation around provenance, trust, family name, and the quiet discipline of doing business properly.

2001

Family Foundations

As the company matured, Robert Cox and Kenneth Cox Walker’s sister, Mavis A. Deshone, became more deeply involved in supporting the family enterprise. Robert helped reinforce sourcing relationships, operational thinking, and practical commercial decision-making, while Mavis helped preserve the service culture, responsibility, and consistency that gave the company its family-led character.

2010

A Legacy At The Table

As the business expanded into a broader mine-to-market model, Kenneth developed a family ritual everyone remembered. He would return from trips with handwritten notebooks, tiny paper parcels, and stories about where each stone had come from, laying them out on a table and turning the evening into a lesson on colour, origin, and value. Those moments helped shape the company’s legacy: Robert thought about the commercial logic, Mavis about people and presentation, and Maria absorbed the emotional side of the family story her father was building.

2019

Loss, Legacy, and Next Of Kin

Kenneth Cox Walker passed away in 2019, a moment that marked both profound family loss and a defining transition for the company. Maria Cox Walker, as his next of kin, became an important part of preserving the family memory, personal history, and emotional legacy attached to the company name. At the same time, responsibility for day-to-day company activity rested with Robert Cox and Mavis A. Deshone, who carried forward the operating standards Kenneth had spent decades putting in place.

Today

Legacy In Practice

Today the daily work of Cox Walker Jewelry LLC is carried by Robert Cox and Mavis A. Deshone, who continue to guide operations, relationships, and company discipline. Maria Cox Walker remains part of the founder’s story as next of kin rather than as an operational executive, representing the personal thread of the family legacy and the memory of Kenneth’s life, values, and ambition.
